Uric acid Test Strips (Dry chemical method)

Intended Use

Uric acid Test Strips (Dry chemical method) are designed for quantitative detection of uric acid concentrations in whole blood or serum samples in vitro. These strips can be used with Lumigenex’s Pro Chek® Dry Chemistry Analyzer, which provides diagnostic results within 2 minutes.

Uric acid is a byproduct of purine metabolism in the human body. It is primarily synthesized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys. The balance between uric acid synthesis and excretion determines its concentration in the body. Hyperuricemia, an elevated level of uric acid, can be classified as primary or secondary, depending on the causes of excess production or reduced excretion. Quantitative determination of uric acid levels can help determine the appropriate treatment for hyperuricemia. This information can guide the use of uric acid stimulation drugs to increase renal excretion or allopurinol to inhibit purine synthesis.

Various methods are available to detect uric acid in blood samples, including the uricase colorimetric method, urine enzyme electrode method, dry chemical method, and tungsten-molybdophosphate method. The dry chemical method, used with the Uric acid Test Strips, is one of the commonly employed techniques.

It is important to note that the Dry Chemistry Analyzer should only be used by medical professionals for in vitro diagnostic purposes.
