Intended Use:

This test kit is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of monkeypox virus antigen in human whole blood, serum, plasma, or rash exudate. 

Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted to humans from animals) with symptoms very similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients, typically presents clinically with fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes and may lead to a range of medical complications. It is caused by the monkeypox virus which belongs to the orthopoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family. 

Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection from the monkeypox virus. It is a disease of global public health importance as it not only affects countries in west and central Africa but the rest of the world. Human-to-human transmission can result from close contact with respiratory secretions, skin lesions of an infected person, or recently contaminated objects. Transmission via drop-let respiratory particles usually requires prolonged face-to-face contact, which puts health workers, household members, and other close contacts of active cases at greater risk.
