Intended Use
This test kit is used to diagnose early acute kidney injury (AKI) and early diabetic nephropathy. Acute Kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious condition in critically ill patients. AKI is associated with poorer overall outcomes, including increased mortality, prolonged length of stay, and increased risk of progression to chronic kidney disease. Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) is a type of lipocalin that is identified as an emerging biomarker for the early detection of AKI. Studies have shown NGAL to be a highly induced protein in the kidney after ischemic or nephrotoxic injury, It increases quantitatively and proportionally according to the severity of renal structural acute kidney injury. When added to currently used criteria of serum creatinine and urine output, NGAL can help to identify those at risk of progressing to worsening AKI.
 
It is used with Lumigenex LTRIC Series 's Time-Resolved Fluorescence Immunoassay Analyzer which provides diagnostic answers in 15 minutes.
The Analyzer should only be used by healthcare professionals and for in vitro diagnostic use.
