Glycosylated Hemoglobin Test Strips(Dry chemical method)
In a hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test, the quantity of blood sugar (glucose) bound to hemoglobin is determined. The component of red blood cells called hemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the remainder of the body. An HbA1c test reveals the usual level of hemoglobin-bound glucose over the previous three months. It is based on a three-month average because a red blood cell usually lasts for that amount of time. Results for HbA1c are presented as numbers. Here are some typical outcomes. Normal: Low HbA1c of 5.7% HbA1c between 5.7% and 6.4% indicates prediabetes. Diabetes: A HbA1c level of at least 6.5%
If your HbA1c levels are high, it may be a sign of diabetes, a chronic condition that can cause serious health problems, including heart disease, kidney disease, and nerve damage.
It is used with Lumigenex's Pro Chek® Dry Chemistry Analyzer which provides diagnostic answers in 2 minutes.
The Dry Chemistry Analyzer should only be used by healthcare professionals and for in vitro diagnostic use.
