Product Description
The uric acid test strip (dry chemical method) is suitable for in vitro quantitative detection of whole blood, serum concentrations of uric acid.
Uric acid is a primary byproduct of the breakdown of purine metabolism in the human body. It is primarily synthesized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys. The levels of uric acid in the body are determined by a delicate balance between its production and excretion. Hyperuricemia can be classified as primary or secondary, which is characterized by an excess production or reduced excretion of uric acid, respectively.
Quantitative determination of uric acid excretion can help to determine the treatment regimen for hyperuricemia, and to determine whether patients should be treated with uric acid-stimulating excretion drugs for increased renal excretion, or treated with allopurinol to inhibit purine synthesis. At present, the commonly used methods to detect uric acid in blood samples include uricase colorimetric method, urine enzyme electrode method, dry chemical method and tungsten-molybdophosphate method.
