This homocysteine test strip can quantitatively measure the amount of homocysteine in the blood specimen.
Homocysteine is a type of amino acid. The human body naturally makes homocysteine. But at high levels, it can damage the lining of arteries. It can encourage blood clotting. This may raise the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attacks, blood clots, and strokes. High levels of homocysteine in the blood may be a sign of a vitamin deficiency, heart disease, or a rare inherited disorder.
